Gamma Ray Analysis

Gamma-Ray Spectrum Catalogues

A new edition of the original Idaho National Engineering & Environmental Laboratory (INEEL) Gamma-ray spectrum Catalogues has been prepared for presentation in electronic format (1997). The incentive to expand and update the content and format of the Spectrum Catalogues resulted from the development of large-volume Ge detectors and a need for additional classes of spectral data to support new applications of gamma-ray spectrometry. Recent developments in information technology offer an opportunity to greatly enhance presentation of scientific material. The objective of this effort produced a new enhanced version of Ge(Li) - Si(Li) Catalogue and a digitized version of the NaI(Li) Catalogue. These Catalogues are offered as a free resource on the Internet from site: http:/id.inel.gov/gamma/.

IDGAM

A PC code and database to identify isotopes in a radioactive sample by their gamma rays. Diskette by R. Paviotti Corcuera, M. de Moraes Cunha, K.A. Jayanti, Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil.
It uses the database "Strong gammas" (see under Nuclear Structure and Decay Data) by T. Narita et al. with about 6000 gamma lines.
Documentation: IAEA-NDS-135.

GAMQUEST

A computer program to identify gamma rays, by E. Browne, Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, USA. Not available from the IAEA. Available online from Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, USA.
- This program is especially suited to the analysis of samples produced by neutron activation, and of environmental samples containing radioactive pollutants. It searches a large database of over 60 000 gamma rays to identify the spectral lines from samples. - Documentation see report LBL-35715.

Kondrashov Gammas

A PC database containing energies and yields of gamma rays and half-lives for 749 radionuclides from Be-7 to Md-258, with a total of 16682 gamma lines. It has been designed for use with the code DIMEN, a gamma ray analysis code for nuclides identification available from the Radiation Safety Information Computational Center (RSICC) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, USA.
Documentation: IAEA-NDS-172.

NUCHART

see under Nuclear Structure and Decay Data.

GANAAS

A PC software for gamma ray analysis, activity calculations and neutron activation analysis, by the IAEA Physics Section. Set of 4 diskettes and software handbook IAEA/CMS-3. The package uses the thermal cross section data by E. Gryntakis et al. (IAEA Technical Report 273, 1987, p.199) and fast neutron cross sections by R. Pepelnik (unpublished). Available also by FTP.
